There are mixed answers on the subject, but the majority are a resounding "Yes".
I am briefly going to highlight some of the reasons why. There are an abundance roughly 120 or more of vitamins and supplements advertised as being "All" beneficial to the growing needs of puppy developments. These can be overwhelming and even confusing in choosing, "Which one is best". So, I did some research and looked up vitamins and one brand listed I noticed was a supplement called, NuVet Vitamins and it was the most listed vitamin on breeders website's as "the best supplement". So, out of sheer curiosity I wanted to look up this vitamin and compare it up against others to see, Just what makes this the best vitamin out there?
Why I did Not choose NuVet Vitamins is because after looking NuVet up I discovered their vitamins are a mixture of ingredients that have not bee shown to be safe and effective in treating or preventing any disease in dogs and other animals, as NuVet is advertised. They are advertised as treating many diseases not limited to: cataracts, cushion's diseases, diabetes, allergies and a list of others, with good results and no risks. Well after a diligent search I found there is NO reliable evidence to support the health claims NuVet makes for a number of their ingredients and being most important, is there appears to be absolutely NO published research evidence of any kind evaluating the safety of purported benefits of their product! Finally, what else I found that was also interesting is that their products are listed as "using natural, human-grade ingredients", well, this simply means: good for human consumption, not animals. We all know, or at-least everyone should know is that: "What may be good for humans is not always good for dogs or animals."
After diligently looking for the best supplement for our beloved dogs and their offspring, I found a supplement called, NuTri-Vet Vitamins and here's Why I choose NuTri-Vet Vitamins. NuTri-Vet is a "veterinary formulated animal supplement" that promote health and well-being in dogs and other animals. They are a leading provider of "natural animal products" in America. NuTri-Vet DO NOT advertise as being able to treat or prevent any disease in dogs or other animals. They are members of the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) a nonprofit industry group dedicated to "Protecting and Enhancing the Health of companion animals" throughout the United States.
After looking thru a host of supplemental vitamins, NuTri-Vet was just the best fit for our dogs and all of our adult dogs and puppies currently take NuTri-Vet Vitamins as a weekly (one-day-week) supplement and we "highly recommend" they stay on the vitamins, that's how much we believe in the health of our extended family members. We have started all puppies on the path of disease protection with NuTri-Vet Puppy chewable because, our puppies are born with an enhanced immune system, not only because of their ancestry, but also because when puppies are weaned they are given a high quality puppy food and supplement. This gives puppies the best start in life.
We know that very often, new owners change their puppy's food and it is usually because of the price of the food. When you change the puppy's food to a lesser quality food the puppy is not receiving all the needed vitamins, minerals or antioxidants required during the development stages in their 1st year of life and "all dog foods are not created equal." It is for this reason we require all puppy's to remain on Wellness or another high quality puppy food. Even after the first year of life a high quality dog food isn't always enough. That's why we give our dogs a supplement. Isn't your four-legged loved one just as important as your health is to you?
